Job Summary: The University of Southern Mississippi invites applicants for two full-time, nine-month, tenure-track positions as assistant professors of sport management in the School of Human Performance and Recreation in the College of Health.

Each nine-month, tenure-track faculty position requires teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in sport management, developing a scholarly line of inquiry related to the discipline and advising students. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Duties and Responsibilities: Each tenure-track appointment at the assistant level involves teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in sport management. A line of scholarly inquiry is required along with mentoring, research and service expectations. Applicants should seek external funding for research and maintain active memberships in professional organizations and associations.
Minimum Qualifications: 1. Earned doctorate (degree awarded by August 2014) in sport management or closely related field
2. Ability to teach in at least two of the following areas: governing agencies in sport, sport marketing, research techniques in sport, sport communications, international sport studies, sport technology, organizational leadership/management, sport law, economics and finance of sport, sport social issues, facility and event management
3. Demonstrated potential to produce scholarship, i.e., peer-reviewed publications, professional presentations and proposals for funded research
4. Demonstrated knowledge of professional developments related to area of specialization
Preferred Qualifications: 1. Experience in advising students, publishing scholarly articles and pursuit of external funding
2. Experience in teaching sport management courses on the college/university level
3. Experience developing and delivering online instruction and a commitment to integrate technology in teaching and scholarship
4. Knowledge of COSMA accreditation

Job Summary: The University of Southern Mississippi invites applicants for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track faculty position as an assistant professor of recreation in the School of Human Performance and Recreation in the College of Health.This nine-month, entry-level, tenure-track faculty position requires teaching undergraduate courses in recreation, recreation administration and therapeutic recreation, as well as curriculum and program development.
Research, service and undergraduate student advisement are also expected. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Successful applicant will demonstrate evidence of teaching and research competence.

2) Certification (or eligibility for certification) as a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) or a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS)
3) Demonstrated potential to produce scholarship, i.e., peer-reviewed publications, professional presentations and proposals for funded research
Preferred Qualifications: 1) Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with students and faculty from diverse backgrounds, programs and colleges
2) Professional experience in recreation, recreation administration, community recreation leadership, outdoor recreation or therapeutic recreation
3) Experience in teaching recreation administration and/or therapeutic recreation administration classes at the undergraduate level
4) Experience with program and/or curriculum development
