Department: Kinesiology

Salary: Commensurate

Job Summary:

  • Teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses with emphasis in the Graduate program.
  • Candidates should have a strong background in successful teaching and scholarly activities.
  • Nine-month appointment with the possibility of teaching summer classes.

Duties:

  • Teach classes, serve on departmental, college, and university committees.
  • Continue or develop scholarly research agenda.
  • Supervision/mentoring/advising of undergraduate students.
  • Involvement in community service and professional organizations is highly encouraged.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues are essential.
  • Required areas of expertise and teaching background should include: athletic/recreation administration, facilities mgmt., coaching education and sports information systems.

Qualifications:

  • Completed doctorate required with emphasis in sport management, recreation, or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of teaching experience.

Potential for excellence in scholarly research and evidence of excellence in teaching and mentoring of students. Ability to procure external funding a plus; as is online teaching experience; as is professional experience in the sport management, coaching, health education, and recreation fields.

“Fit Fest was held last week, and through the collaboration of kinesiology students, personal trainers and vendors, students were educated about more than just exercise.

The event took place at 4:30 p.m. last Tuesday, Feb. 11, in the Student Fitness Center.

Kinesiology professor Bryan Smith and his Kinesiology 416 class worked with attendees to measure body mass index, perform cardiovascular tests and other endurance tests.”
