Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor – Center for Hospitality & Sport Management
The Center for Hospitality & Sport Management at Drexel University invites nominations and applications for a full time, Non Tenure Track Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor position within the Sport Management Program. Applications will be accepted from highly qualified individuals in all areas of expertise in Sport Management, but preference will be given to those individuals with a strong background as a practitioner. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
Applicants should have an earned doctoral degree in Sport Management or a terminal degree in a closely related field. Candidates will have a strong interest and experience in current Sport Management practices and relevant scholarly literature. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of, or commitment to teaching, scholarly achievement and excellence in research, publications, and presentations. Desirable teaching qualifications include: evidence of excellence in teaching, excellent verbal and written communication skills, interest in a highly collaborative faculty environment, experience in and enthusiasm to teach both face to face and online, and experience in curriculum planning and development.
The successful candidate will be responsible for instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels, scholarly research, and publications. Teaching will occur at Drexel University’s Main Campus and regional locations and scheduling may include day, evening, and/or weekend courses, both on-site and online. Other required activities include helping to facilitate experiential learning and cooperative placement opportunities for students within the sport management industry, serving on committees and participating in professional and industry activities.

Candidates may apply for either a tenure-line position (open rank) and/or a term (nontenure-track) position depending on the candidate’s specific configuration of credentials and talents. Term faculty responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses related to sport management governance, leadership, finance, marketing, and/or international perspectives; supervision of practica, internships and theses in sport management; and completing essential service activities (such as those related to student assessment and program development). Tenure-line faculty are also expected to maintain an active line of research and external funding, and provide expertise and scholarly leadership in one or more of the areas noted above, with an emphasis on bridging research and practice.

Required qualifications include an earned doctorate in sport management or a closely related discipline; demonstrated teaching excellence; professional experience in a sport industry setting; and alignment with the college’s core values focused on diversity, collaboration, innovation, and ethical leadership. Candidates for a tenure-line position are also expected to be engaged in consequential research and scholarship, and have a publication record commensurate with academic rank and experience or demonstrate high-potential for achieving this pattern of scholarly productivity. Desired qualifications include demonstrated ability to secure external funding, teaching experience in online venues, and active involvement in a national/international sport management professional association.
