One-year full-time temporary appointment.

Essential Functions :
The College of Professional Studies is home to the Master of Arts in Leadership Studies ( MLS ) inclusive of a 15-credit specialization and certificate in Sports Leadership ( SPLE ). These degree/certificate programs are multi-disciplinary and supported by faculty from disciplines in the social sciences, sport industry, education and relevant professional fields and feature rigorous coursework in topics pertinent to leadership studies and sport leadership for professionals pursuing careers in leadership, particularly sport leadership. This full-time teacher-scholar position carries a 3/3 course per semester teaching obligation; summer teaching is required with a separate contract to be issued. Demonstrated ability to conduct research is required.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary teaching responsibilities will include courses in the MLS and SPLE Graduate Degree and Certificate programs. The successful applicant is expected to be an experienced teacher and active researcher, mentoring minimally six graduate students in their research. Engaging in departmental and university service is also a requirement.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ph.D. with nine years of college teaching experience.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
An earned doctorate (no later than August 2014) in leadership, sport management, sport law, kinesiology, communication, organizational behavior, education or related fields is REQUIRED . Candidates must have the ability to teach courses in leadership studies and sport leadership. While applicants from a variety of fields are welcome to apply, the successful candidate’s teaching and research responsibilities will be specific to leadership and sport leadership. Applicants should demonstrate a successful record of scholarly research with a research agenda.

Demonstrated ability to teach graduate courses in leadership and sport leadership; curriculum planning and implementation; assessment planning and oversight; publications in peer reviewed academic journals and a research agenda with a primary focus on leadership, sport leadership and administration; a background and interest in sport; and quality presentations at national and international conferences specific to those areas. Experience or interest in obtaining external funding through grant writing is highly desirable. We are especially interested in applicants with strong mixed methods research skills. We are also interested in applicants with experience in teaching and developing blended and online course offerings.
