The West Virginia University College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences invites applications for the Assistant Professor position in the Department of Sport Sciences.

Position is an Assistant Professor of Sport and Exercise Psychology in a department that includes the following academic disciplines (undergraduate and graduate degrees): 

  • Athletic Training (B.S., M.S.) 
  • Sport Management (B.S., M.S.) 
  • Sport and Exercise Psychology (B.S., Ph.D.)

Appointment:

August 15, 2014 – Nine-month appointment. Summer school and on-line teaching available.

Responsibilities:

Assistant Professor Responsibilities:

1. Teach graduate and undergraduate classes.
2. Engage in a consistent and focused line of research, resulting in peer- reviewed journal articles.
3. Write, submit, and receive external grants to support the College’s research mission.
4. Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
5. Serve on appropriate University and College-wide committees.

Professional Qualifications:

An earned doctorate in Sport and Exercise Psychology or related area at time of employment, with teaching experience and scholarly record that warrants appointment at the rank of assistant professor at West Virginia University. Ability to teach Sport Psychology, Research Methods/Statistics, and Exercise Psychology is required. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Preference will be given to applicants with evidence of the ability to obtain external funding. Preference will also be given to applicants who hold or are eligible to hold the Certified Consultant – Association for Applied Sport Psychology (CC-AASP) designation and have the ability to mentor graduate student internships.

Salary:

Commensurate with qualifications.
