CFP- 2014 Sport Studies Caucus of the American Studies Association

by C. H. Wilson, Jr. on December 2, 2013

The Sports Studies Caucus of the American Studies Association seeks panel proposals for the 2014 Annual Meeting in Los Angeles, CA, November 6-9, 2014.

In particular, we seek proposals that address the 2014 Annual Meeting theme: “The Fun and the Fury: New Dialectics of Pleasure and Pain In the Post-American Century.” We likewise encourage panel submissions that engage the Southern California sports-scape, which is ripe for critical inquiry.

We also urge interested parties to consider non-traditional panel formats and the creation of interlocking or related panel sessions. For more information on panel formatting, visit http://www.theasa.net/submit_a_proposal and scroll down to the header marked “Proposal Types.”

Have a panel idea? Visit our web page Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/135180959965247/) to seek like-minded presenters, or contact Noah Cohan at [ncohan@wustl.edu]. Panel proposals submitted by Jan. 13 will be considered for caucus sponsorship by a vote of our members. To be considered, please e-mail ncohan@wustl.edu with a list of panelists and an abstract of 300 words.
